Dr. Bazemore had made the decision to practice optometry as a senior at Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Virginia. She completed her undergraduate degree in Zoology at North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC and went on to attend optometry school at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) in Philadelphia.
She has been practicing optometry since 1995 and holds multiple licenses in Louisiana, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. In 2002 Dr. Bazemore was named one of the YWCA of South Hampton Roads Women of Distinction for donating complete eye examinations to battered and transitional women in shelters. In Pennsylvania she had the opportunity to provide comprehensive eye examination to patients who were home bound and in nursing homes. In 2015 she volunteered for the HERO Guyana (Health & Education Relief Organization) providing comprehensive eye care to 173 patient in 4 days. Dr. Bazemore enjoys providing eye care to a wide variety of patients and allowing for open communication and clarity in treatment plans.
When Dr. Bazemore is not examining patients, she loves to read, practice yoga and travel internationally. She has volunteered twice with the Asa Restoration Project, an archeological restoration project for the tomb of Karakhamun in Luxor, Egypt . She currently teaches hatha and yin yoga on the Southside and the Peninsula. She is also lead facilitator with the Essence Book Club of Chesapeake.
